About

Territorial Imperatives is a music and automotive blog by Jim Motavalli, a writer and multi-book author who is best known for writing about the green side of the car industry. The music topics are jazz, rock, blues, folk, Americana, and the great big world of the singer-songwriter. Nothing at all about Celine Dion, Whitney Houston or anybody like that. The car side will offer some thoughts on topics that don’t get a mainstream airing–or just interest me. It’s an exciting time to be writing about cars, as the switch to electric vehicles (EVs) is well underway. My automotive writing can also be found at Barron’s Penta, Autoweek, Forbes, Barnfinds.com, the eBay Motors blog and other locations.

  1. hi, i just left a comment on the debbie green page BUT ended up deleting the email to complete the moderation; if you want to send it to me i’ll complete it.

  2. Ever since I heard Willie Nelson singing The Night LIfe, I’ve been wondering how he got away with basically changing (some of) the words from Brownie McGee’s Sporting Life (1946) and calling it his own song. Glad to see that I’m not the only one to notice the striking similarity.
